Illusory
As I wander through the streets of life,
I watch as history repeats (rewrites) itself;
and I wonder what is real. Do we even know?
Could we even know? Is everything as it seems,
or is life nothing but a dream?
Will I wake up tomorrow, to see nothing changed?
Or perhaps my blinders shall be shed,
and the illusory reality of our lives be proven false.
I’ll see with newfound clarity
that what I thought was true was never ever so,
and yet what I knew in my heart was false
turns out to be the only truth left.
Time moves forward…tomorrow will come,
this life will end, and so to the dream.
That’s one truth that holds for all, not some;
maybe then true peace will reign supreme.

I wrote this for a 5 minute poetry challenge given by the Alabaster and Mercury group on facebook. The topic was illusory.

Thank you Glenn. It probably worked out to being closer to 15 minutes. I wasn’t watching the clock. Still, I pretty much just let it flow. 😀

Thanks Lori. I went through quite a stretch where I just didn’t feel like writing. I’m glad to be back at it. ;D

Everything is an illusion – I like to think of it as someone writing a book in 3rd person so they know everything but we know nothing
So facebook is into blogging now? Obviously it is since most of marvin’s group post there. I had always been under the impression cannot blog on FB, guess that was an illusion also
on another matter – I am trying to figure out how to verify my site so shows up on Google – would you have any notion of how to do this ? – Thanks a bunch !

Hey Sue. This was in the group section over there. Truthfully, there isn’t a great platform there for blogging. Most of my ideas I get there, I end up blogging here. I don’t like the commenting aspect over there so much.
I would hazard a guess that you could search for ‘sassyspeaks’ through google. or you could search for a blog title of yours and see if it shows up.
I would like to believe it is that way. I just sometimes get the feeling that this is like dreaming, and someday I’ll awaken to a completely different existence. 😀

Good thing I looked, sometimes WP does not send me alerts
I already have awoken to a completely new existence. We go through many lifetimes in one lifetime
thanks Craig

Thanks Jo. It is quite a fun project. It gets you to just let the words flow.
