Rise Up (XVII)

Rise Up

The winds of Autumn’s change,
blows through, rustling the leaves,
as a new day is born
a new direction is sought.

For what has this land become?
What foolish desires has it succumbed
to, with the simple-mindedness of a child.

Regardless, an awakening has been sparked;
a newness of purpose, glistens now
from out of the dark…as the masses speak out.
Yet even so, the establishment rants…
and raves about the stupidity,
of following extremism.

What they don’t realize,
and never will—for their mind
ignores that which stands
right before them, waving to be seen.
We are not the fringe!
Though they take pleasure in labeling us so,
We are not extremists taking over;
we are the voice of reason,
calling out—clamoring for the return
of that which was ours.

And they laugh in scorn,
deriding our passion—for ignorance;
declaring we don’t know
what is good for us.
Will they ever learn?
Will they ever see?
The madness they espouse,
only benefits the status quo,
and leads to a land of mediocrity.

So, rise up! Rant
cast your voices to the wind,
Let yourself be heard
Only then, will a new day truly begin.
